A cemetery is supposed to be the final address. This piece has acquired another.

Originating from a cemetery in France, this substantial metal crucifix has left the landscape of graves and entered the House of Necros.

That passage is the reason we chose it.

Some objects are comfortable to admire only while they remain where convention has placed them. Behind a cemetery gate. Beside a grave. At a sufficient distance from your bed, your belongings and the ordinary business of being alive.

Bring one home and that distance disappears.

The body, the weathered cross, the heavy base and its curling metalwork become part of your private surroundings. Something associated with the keeping of the dead now occupies space among the living. You may find that beautiful. Someone visiting you may find it deeply inappropriate. Both will have understood the piece.

We have paired it with Paint Their Skies With Blood: cathedral incense, cold stone, wax, smoke and funereal woods. Wear the fragrance beside an object whose former setting makes those impressions considerably less abstract.

Its cemetery origin is part of its history. The deliberate collision of that history with perfume, silk and the act of giving is ours.

One complete set exists. You receive the exact cemetery piece pictured.

Inside your box:

  • Paint Their Skies With Blood Eau de Parfum, 30 ml, in its original packaging.
